DSAA Design - La Martinière (FR)
S3 est le diminutif de Solar 3, nom scientifique de la Terre en astronomie, désignant la 3e planète du système solaire. S3 se concentre sur l’essentiel : donner à voir et ressentir les turbulences écologiques actuelles et futures. Abordant l’altération des 4 éléments, S3 propose une série d’immersions interactives rendant compte de manière sensible, parfois spectaculaire, des désordres du monde contemporain.
Le dispositif choisi met en scène des images fixes ou animées. Il privilégie la troublante fascination que l’homme éprouve face à la catastrophe, plutôt qu’une mise à distance critique et intellectualisée. En cela, il tente de rejoindre une dimension universelle des projets de création : faire acte de lecture du monde et engager l’intériorité des spectateurs.
Dans S3, le digital n’est clairement qu’un moyen. Les interactions sont simples, les actions élémentaires : arrêt, accélération, random. Utopie d’un monde où l’homme pourrait encore maîtriser le déroulement des choses et agir pour éviter le pire.

S3 stands for Solar 3, the scientific name for the Earth in astronomy, referring to the 3rd planet in the solar system. S3 concentrates on the essential: inviting us to see and feel current and future ecological turmoil. Addressing the alteration of the 4 elements, S3 offers a series of interactive immersions documenting the disorders of the contemporary world in a sensitive, sometimes spectacular, manner.
The chosen device showcases fixed or moving images. It prioritises the disturbing fascination that man experiences in the face of a disaster, rather than a critical and intellectualised detachment. In doing so, it attempts to join a universal dimension of creative projects: by interpreting the world and engaging the inwardness of the viewers.
In S3, digital technology is clearly only a means. The interactions are simple, the actions basic: stop, acceleration, random. The utopia of a world in which man could still control the course of events and take action to avoid the worst.
